Dr. Tanveer Saleh

Dr. Tanveer Saleh has been serving as an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Autonomous Systems and Robotics Research Unit in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Before joining IIUM, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada. He completed his PhD back in 2009 from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He also worked as a Product Engineer in a spin-off company from NUS named Mikrotools Pte. Ltd. For more than three years. Dr. Tanveer completed his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2002. Dr. Tanveer’s primary research interest includes non-conventional/ hybrid micromachining, the application of machine learning in manufacturing, and automation/robotics in manufacturing. Alhamdulillah, his research is supported by various national and international funding agencies, including the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia, Ministry of Science and Technology Malaysia and the US Air force. He has supervised several postgraduate students who largely contributed to his research. He worked in NUS spin-off company Mikrotools Pte Ltd. for three years. He also worked at the University of British Columbia, Canada, as a postdoctoral fellow for more than one year before he joined IIUM.
